CONTEXT
Commonstock was a social investing app where people connected their brokerage accounts to share real portfolios and trades, not just opinions. I came in on contract, working directly with the co-founders while the product and brand were still taking shape.
ROLE
I designed the website and homepage, in-app messaging, email newsletters, and UI/UX flows, then built and shipped the site in Webflow.
STRATEGY
The founder described the product as a Bloomberg terminal for Main Street, and the design had to carry both halves of that. Serious enough that someone would connect a brokerage account, approachable enough to actually hang out in. I pushed toward a modern, data-forward look where the numbers carried the visual interest, with the same language running through marketing and product so the promise on the homepage matched the thing behind the login.
IMPACT
The work shipped as a new website and a unified brand across marketing and product during the stretch when the company was making its case to users and investors alike. Commonstock raised a $25 million Series A led by Coatue that October, with over $1 billion in assets connected to the platform, and was acquired by Yahoo Finance in 2023.
